Understanding Wowza Video’s IP Addressing
Dynamic IP Addresses
- No Static IPs: Wowza Video does not use static IP addresses. Instead, it utilizes DNS hostnames.
- Changing IPs: The IP address changes each time a live stream or transcoder is started. Once started, the IP address is available in the Wowza Video interface.
DNS Hostnames
- Whitelisting: To ensure uninterrupted service, whitelist the following DNS hostnames:
*.video.wowza.com
cdn3.wowza.com
Steps to Identify IP Addresses
1. Start Your Live Stream or Transcoder
- Sign in to Wowza Video: Access your Wowza Video account.
- Start Stream/Transcoder: Begin your live stream or transcoder session.
2. Retrieve IP Address
- Access Interface: Once the stream or transcoder is running, the IP address will be displayed in the Wowza Video interface.
