Understanding Wowza Video’s IP Addressing

Dynamic IP Addresses

• No Static IPs: Wowza Video does not use static IP addresses. Instead, it utilizes DNS hostnames.
• Changing IPs: The IP address changes each time a live stream or transcoder is started. Once started, the IP address is available in the Wowza Video interface.

DNS Hostnames

• Whitelisting: To ensure uninterrupted service, whitelist the following DNS hostnames:
  • *.video.wowza.com
  • cdn3.wowza.com

Steps to Identify IP Addresses
