Why is the Output of My 1080p+ 60fps Source Choppy?

Occasionally, when a customer is sending Wowza Video a source stream of 1080p or larger with a frame rate of 50fps or higher this can require more CPU resources to decode the source and then re-encode the lower renditions.  As a result, the CPU can become overtaxed and produce a choppy playback effect.

The best way to combat this is to modify the advanced transcoder configuration on your source rendition.  This will update the configuration requirements and when you start up the live stream we will request an instance size to handle the processing requirements.  This will remove the choppy playback effect you may have experienced prior.

The transcoder change mentioned should be made when the transcoder is stopped. We cannot assign a larger server instance size while the live stream is currently running.
